The Beauty of a Summer night... WW w/Linky "La belleza de una noche en verano"
A full moon, the beach, a lighthouse, a clear night; all of those things were staring us in the face. Our last summer night in New York, but Live a Little: Finally having a home...
For the last 13 years, our homes have been "where ever the Navy sent us". With that being said, we have had several places we lived in, many different schools the kids attended, many neighborhoods we called ours...
but we never made a house a home.
Always knowing that we would move soon, we never really unpacked anything except for the basics; clothes, toys, household items, and I kept picture frames and such packed away. Knowing we were going to move every 6 months to a year, I didn't want to make it my home and then have the heartbreak of leaving it.
I short changed myself, not the kids though; their school art plastered our empty walls ;)
Last August, August 24, 2011 to be exact, we packed up our Honda Odyssey, and drove from San Diego, California to New York. It was heartbreaking to say the least,

Nerves, excitement, planning & underplanning, all for #blogher 2012
Are you ready for BlogHer 2012?!?!? I'm not, not even close!!!! It's almost 3 am, and I am barely out of the shower, next is finding clothes and can I say I never even got to find my business cards?!?!?!
Having to start from scratch is not only scary and stressful, but I have heard that sometimes
its fun as well. Still waiting for that part ;)
Last year I was a ball of nerves, anyone that met me can verify, being extremely shy in person is a quality I have mastered ;). This year I expect to be the same, I am hoping to not be as shy, but then again I hoped for that last year, lol. It was very intimidating, so many people, and the people!!!! Goodness, let me say this, so many people I met were not the type of people I pictured them to be,
From Ca-NY, from 2011-2012, from smiles to tears... to high hopes!!!
New Years Eve in NY City, our 1st NYE in the NYC, lol. As I had planned to initially be in Time Square for NYE 2011, we decided to spend it with the Family in Central Park. The Midnight Run, both of our aunts were running in the race so the entire Family met up there to support. It was an amazing thing to see Families running together, celebrating the new year, and most of all; it was amazing to be there with my babies, to "shoo-away" the old yucky year that did us so wrong...
As the year 2011 drew to a close, I hugged my tween daughter extra tight, midnight hit and the fireworks in NYC hit in full effect
A much needed Family fun night-in...
While we used to live in sunny San Diego, Ca we used to have weekend Family movie nights, of course we would spend the entire day out and as we settle down for bed; it would be while watching a movie together. Since we moved to NY it has been a complete change with everything. To begin with, the weather is opposite of what we are used too. Sun is out, but with cold and strong winds, making this aging lady's bones ache, lol. So we spend a lot of time indoors, driving each other crazy as usual.
This weekend I had the opportunity to have our cousins over, and we planned an old fashioned Family night-in. I took ALL 8 kids with me to Walmart and we had a shopping spree while the men went out for some much needed "man time" ;)
